S.T.E.A.M.

Students are engaged in a rigorous program of learning that integrates computer science and computer programming skills with an integrated S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) approach to the BCPS elementary program of study. Through an engaging, hands on, "epic build" approach, students build upon their skills in the four C's: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, as they develop a well-rounded understanding of how to utilize technology to become creators instead of users. Students learn to write programming code to create video games and stories, in addition to learning storyboarding, project management, and presentation skills. Students develop the visual-spatial abilities necessary to accelerate readiness to learn text-based programming languages, including Java.
