International Studies

Students develop 21st century skills in a rigorous, inquiry-based program that engages them in their own learning and helps them make sense of the world around them through first-hand experience and independent observation. Students explore six transdisciplinary themes, spread across the content areas of language arts, social studies, math, science, arts, and physical education: who we are, where we are in place and time, how we express ourselves, how the world works, how we organize ourselves, and sharing the planet. An integral part of this magnet program is the acquisition of a second language. Through second language acquisition, students will become more aware of diverse cultures and will develop not only a global awareness but also an "international mindedness" that promotes global citizenship.
